Volunteer Matching Center

The Volunteer Matching Centerlaunched in 2008 as a way to encourage year-round community service. New Yorkers are now able to search by neighborhood, nearby subways lines, available times, and personal skills sets, etc. to find the anti-hunger volunteer opportunities that fit best with their schedules and abilities. New Yorkers with special skills such as expertise in computers, accounting, public relations, web development, law, strategic planning, or graphic design can also use the system to find pantries and kitchens that specifically need that type of unique assistance. When visiting www.nyccah.org/vms/search, visitors can view all the potential volunteer slots currently open on the right hand side. Volunteer opportunities marked “Urgent Need” are the projects food pantries and soup kitchens have indicated to have the greatest need for volunteers. On the left hand side, you will be able to search by criteria matching your particular volunteering preferences; however, the more preferences you check off, the fewer choices you will have.
