Yesterday, the Obama administration proposed an Economic Recovery Bill (http://appropriations.house.gov/pdf/RecoveryBill01-15-09.pdf) that responds to the cries for a “Bailout for the Rest of Us.” The bill includes the largest investment in new nutrition assistance funding in decades, including critical funding such as $200 Billion for SNAP (formerly known as Food Stamps) and $750 Million for After-school Meals.

As Joel Berg wrote in a recent article on the Daily Kos (http://www.dailykos.com/story/2009/1/16/95658/5285?new=true), “Now is the time for all good progressives to come to the aid of country. Now is the time to rally around this forward-thinking economic plan and work our hearts out to get it passed.”

Call your Congressional representatives today to tell them that you support the funding levels proposed in the Economic Recovery Bill and that it should be passed as soon as possible in order to immediately assist the millions of families throughout the United States who are struggling in these difficult economic times.
